What is bone broth?

Bone broth is made from animal bones and tissue that has been simmered for up to over 20 hours, which allows a huge range of amazing minerals and compounds to be released from the animal bones. By simmering with a range of vitamin-rich vegetables and spices, bone broth not only tastes delicious but has so many health benefits. Used to combat the effects of inflammation, autoimmune diseases, and the ageing process, it's no wonder our ancestors were so fond of the magic elixir. In the age of processed food, many of the minerals that are found in bone broth are missing from our diets today. This makes it one of the best additions to a healthy diet.

Why is it important?

All disease begins in the gut and if your gut is not thriving, than neither are you. We like to think of the gut as the roots of a tree. The tree itself cannot be healthy if its roots are unhealthy. The same goes for your gut. Bone broth has a host of benefits for your body, including increased energy levels, better sleep quality, and healthy skin, hair and nails. Bone broth is also rich in type 2 collagen. Type 2 collagen has been recognised as a key factor in improving the appearance of skin. This means bone broth can help diminish the look of fine lines, wrinkles and cellulite. One of the best benefits, however, is its ability to support a healthy gut. It is also incredibly easy and convenient to work into your diet. A hot cup of bone broth in the morning is enough to replace your coffee whilst still kick starting your day. You'll still experience that increase in energy but without all the jitters. Want to know even more about the amazing benefits? Here are 51 health benefits of bone broth.
